Dennis is a star and it looked like he had excellent colleagues taking care of the other restaurant aspects. Nice bistro style place in a convenient location close to the main station in Essen. Can Herz busy on weekends. Popular with the theatre crowd. Nice set three course meal.

French bistro style, done with fantasy and finesse. Large selection of wines, many very reasonably priced. Top service, the waiters really take care of everything and contribute to a warm and delightful atmosphere. A must visit when dining in Essen!

I enjoyed my lunch of roasted scallops, beef tartare, and dessert. Beef tartare (tartare de boeuf) in particular was delicious.

We go here for dinner at least once every Essen Spiel. Food is always great quality, but for me personally, it is a bit too complicated. Again, just for me and my more simple palette. The highlight menu item for me has been the stuffed gnocchi, so amazing. Service is always top-notch. Knowledgeable, friendly and a great feeling of being "hosted" everytime we go. Small and comfortable, we always feel welcomed and enjoy our evenings at Paul's.

I attended a post wedding party here and the food, the staff, the environment were all incredible. To cater for 50-60 people is not easy but all the food was delicious and warm. Drinks, including custom cocktails, was fast and the waiter there was literally the best waiter I have ever seen. Friendly, quick, passionate and understanding (a few cups and glasses were broken). Highly, highly recommend.

My fiancé booked this place for us last night, we love how understated the elegance is inside. If you're looking for a place to celebrate, with a warm, relaxed atmosphere, this is definitely the one for you. The food and service is on a whole different level - there was so much care and attention just to make the experience great. Explosion of flavors, and meticulously prepared. (Also love how they brought us multiple baskets of bread and spread ) Hoping to come back soon!

Fantastic restaurant - happy to return any time. The food is great quality, sufficient variety to choose from, and the staff is super competent and friendly. In fact one member of my party had ordered artichokes, and an attentive waiter took the effort to properly cut up the artichokes for them. The pulpo hummus starter is highly recommended, as is the fish main (see photos).
